Taking Informed Incremental Steps to Improve Services to Diverse Communities Over the past few months, I have spent time visiting several ADAMH providers and various community organizations that serve diverse populations. The reason for these visits was to determine first-hand some of the interests and needs of Somalis, Latino/as and other culturally and ethnically diverse persons.

RAAP 2006: Focusing on the African American Family The 2006 Raising the African American Potential (RAAP) conference was held May 20, 2006, at the New Covenant Believers' Church. More than 170 people of all ages came together to participate in an educational and inspirational seminar designed specifically for African American families.

Silvian Honored with ADAMH's Consumer & Family Advocate Award Ingrid Silvian was honored with the 2005 Art Lynn Consumer & Family Advocate Award at ADAMH's Consumer & Family Advisory Council (CFAC) meeting on May 1, 2006.

Lessons From Katrina: A Psychiatrist's Experience On Thursday, June 15, 2006, Dr. Christopher Kovell, ADAMH's medical director, gave a presentation at The Ohio State University on his experience providing mental health services to hurricane evacuees in Louisiana in November 2005.
